New treatment for acne scars

13/Oct/2006: Acne is an inflammatory disease of the skin, which is commonly referred to as pimples, spots or zits. If often leaves small scars in the skin, which cannot be removed easily. Acne scars affects the look of a person and is often too expensive to treat. However, dermatologists from Dallas have developed a new effective treatment to remove acne scars and pock marks.

The new treatment, called harmony pixel laser treatment, is believed to be a major breakthrough in treating acne scars and doctors say that this treatment is very effective in stimulating collagen (a main protein responsible for the elasticity and strength of the skin) and the body’s repair system, which gradually removes the acne scars and pock marks.

Dermatologist Mary Hurley said that this new laser treatment is a better alternative to invasive treatments, which requires the removal of the top layers of the skin, for erasing acne scars. Patients using this new treatment said that they were very satisfied with the results.

Christy Hagler, a patient using this treatment, said that people with acne scarring may no longer have to live with it for rest of their lives, since advancements in technology like the harmony pixel laser treatment, offer immediate and effective solution to acne scars. Hagler added that she could see remarkable improvement in the scarring and the smoothness of her skin, after every treatment.

Doctors say that patients need to undergo 5 to 6 treatments to get the best results. Each treatment costs about $800.
