El Nino is back?
14/Sep/2006: Are we going to witness another storm over the sea temperatures – this time on El Nino factor? Though the debate on the warmer weather on ocean surfaces link to formation of strong hurricanes is not yet resolved, the observation of warmer climate in Pacific Ocean points to another El Nino factor.
According to information, this year’s El Nino began in late August – September beginning, and therefore, it may not be having strong intensity as observed previously in 1997-98 period. The El Nino pattern in the Pacific impacts the weather in countries like Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, among other places.
And, as winter approaches, the direction will change to Northern Hemisphere impacting the weather pattern in the United States. The northern US, much of the West, Great Lakes, and some areas in New England will witness warmer temperatures than usual. Partly, this explains as to why the hurricane season is muted this year compared to previous season when 27 storms battered the US coast. In fact, most of El Nino formations are linked to natural phenomenon and not exactly to global warming.
