Liquid CO2: a solution to global warming?
31/Aug/2006: Scientists have now discovered the latest way of combating global warming: by storing CO2 in liquid form.
This latest solution owes to the discovery of an unusual lake of liquid carbon dioxide beneath the ocean floor by scientists in Japan and Germany.
While carbon dioxide is normally a gas, it cools and turns to liquid form in the depths of the ocean.
Experts say that if humans seriously attempt to dispose of large amounts of CO2 in the seafloor, it will create much larger artificial lakes, and anyways, what guarantees that it won't find its way back to the surface?
