European Global Warming Aim May Not Be Achievable - IEA
August 24th 2006: Claude Mandil the Head of the International Energy Agency has said that it may not be possible for the European Union to avoid the threatening climate change. In order to avoid dangerous interferences with global climate, the average temperature should not go beyond 2 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial levels however plans to reduce the greenhouse effect may not be enough to curb the warming, EIA reported. The EIA report had listed down six instances of dealing with global warming meant for the 26 world leading industrial nations but scientists told Reuters that the prevention of 2 degrees temperature is not achievable. Some of the instances listed in the EIA report were reduction in carbon monoxide emission, increased efficiency of energy consumption and increased use of biofuels.
