Conservation efforts had nurtured the almost extinct white rhino back from the brink of extinction.
31/Aug/2006: Though this species numbers around 11,00 it is still rated as endangered by environmentalists. Officials were shocked today when two men posing as tourists shot two endangered white rhino bulls.
These men were arrested and linked to an ill-famed syndicate which targets endangered animals. In-spite of the reassurance of officials this incident raises serious questions as to the success of protecting wildlife, while animals are poached illegally for either their tusks (wild elephants) or horns (white rhino). When will this end?
