Portland fights against Global Warming

31/Aug/2006: Portland Ore, has recently announced that it will be going 100% renewable starting next year.

Portlad has always been a very conscious city towards issues such as Global warming and pollution. Portland has decided that they will be relying on wind power for all their operations.

Solar energy was an option but solar panels as of now are not as competent as the fossil fuels in producing cheap electricity.

While solar energy is taking the back burner, Portland is banking on wind power. With the hike in prices of fuels like coal, oil, natural gas and uranium it has been very difficult for city officials, budget planners and the general public to lock in any prices or anticipate a stable pricing.

With wind power it is hoped that a decent price can be worked out and locked in for a few decades at least. This step will benefit many farmers as they can setup windmills and cash in on this new trend.

It is a blessing in disguise for taxpayers like you and me as we see the benefits soon starting with our wallet.
Less taxes to pay more to spend and save.
