What can you do to curb global warming?
31/Aug/2006: Global warming is a well known, researched and debated topic. Discussions aside what are you doing to address this issue?
If you are like most of us we listen, ponder and maybe forget it totally. Not so, with Will Toor, 44 and his wife Marielle Colvin, 43. This family has set an example by sticking to their cause.
How? They have decided to depend on the bicycle and bus instead of using their car, unless of course necessary. They have updated their 1928 house with all cool gadgets aimed at energy efficiency.
As a starter their electricity bill was chopped down by a staggering two thirds after they installed an energy efficient washing machine and refrigerator, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and yes the old fashioned outdoor clothes line.
They have installed solar panels on their garage, and tied this system into a grid and guess what their first month's electricity bill was? $2.50
Just think, a few changes to your lifestyle and home and lots of extra cash in your wallet. Sounds tempting you might say, but they must be missing out the fun stuff you might think. Right? Wrong, according to Toor the house is much more comfortable and the lower energy bills have certainly added the much needed peace to their lives.
The next time you gnash your teeth over the rising gas prices think about what you can do to curb it.
